Audience research and profiling

We created surveys to figure out our audience statistics and these were the results.

Key demographics:

When I asked my audience how old they were- 86.7% said 16-18 meanwhile 13.3% said they are 19-24. Since 16-18 accounts for the majority of people who took this survey they will be my main target demographic in terms of age.

When people were asked about their gender identity 53.3% said male, 40% said female and 6.7% said non-binary.

Next, I asked people how good their mental health is and the majority being 46.7% said their mental health is average. Nobody said excellent, 13.3% said good, 26.7% said poor and 13.3% said poor. Although the majority said average a lot of 26.6% are along the poor metal health scale so they are still an important demographic to account for when creating my product.

Since this is the smile campaign people were asked how often they smile. 56.3% said sometimes which is the answer I was expecting since smiling is a natural occurrence, along with 6.7% saying all of the time and 40% said often. So overall a lack of smiling isn't an issue to the people who partook in this survey.

The levels of stress is possibly one of the closest percentages in this survey. 40% said they are stressed often and another 40% said sometimes which is once again what I expected due to the fact that the age demographic suggests a lot of these people are in education which can be very stressful. A smaller 20% said all of the time and although this is less then the other amounts this is still enough to be concerning however stress will obviously be touched on in this project.

In this question I asked people to type out what makes them the most stressed. Obviously I can't give percentages for this question but the majority of people seem to get stressed in social or work based situations. This is understandable considering both social situations and work based situations can coincide. Due to this result I will try to show this in my final product.

When asked what people do when they are most stressed a variety of answers were given but the most popular was listening to music and so I will find a way to feature this in my final product.

I asked people if smiling helps them when they're feeling stressed and wasn't shocked by the outcome at all. Most people weren't sure which is understandable but in terms of firm answers most people said no. A lot of people put on a smile when they're going through a hard time just so people won't worry. If there was more context behind the question such as giving a specific scenario like if a friend made you smile then more people would've said yes however simply smiling for no reason although it has its benefits, doesn't solve all of our problems.

Stress levels can very a lot based on whether you're in education or in the work place, it also depends on how you deal with routine and fast paced environments. Since everyone who took the survey is in education that will be an important part to remember when making the product. This is important to remember so I can mention the kind of environment places of education give off and link that back to how it can affect mental health.

Social Grade
Based on the final two questions I asked about employment and education I can determine that the majority of my audience fits into grade E meaning they're unemployed with only two people most likely fitting into grade D considering they have a job and are in education at the same time and due to school or college they wouldn't have time to get a major amount of experience so grade D is the most likely level for those who are in the workforce and education at the same time.
